"Tree is the Life: Save it"
Movement to Protect Bio-diversity
In June 6, 2005 Green Clubs central committee has initiated a time demanding challenging project “Tree is the Life: Save it”. The main theme of this initiative is conservation of bio-diversity through protection and preservation of the old / rare & indigenous trees of Bangladesh.
Under the direct supervision of Dr. Hossain Shahriar (ecologist & journalist) a 20 members of green club study team working heard being implement the challenges. They have already identified an old tree age of 235 years in Chittagong, the hill and port city of Bangladesh. By this time the team has identify and marked sixty two trees age between 20 – 235 years in Dhaka and Chittagong.
The team has innovatively managed to apply the methods of geometrical and mathematical computation to identify the age of tree. The significant of the works are the team is young energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking; they have contributing and sharing their food, lodging and travel cost. Environment and Social Development Organization have been providing all technical support as well as organizing the study. <ESDO NEWS>
